MOV vs MP3
A MOV file holds video, one or more audio tracks and metadata such as the recording date. An MP3 holds only sound, so it is much smaller and plays on practically any phone, computer, car stereo or podcast app.
Converting keeps the audio and drops the picture. A 10-minute iPhone video can be hundreds of megabytes, while the same 10 minutes as a 192 kbps MP3 is about 14 MB. Pick 128 kbps for speech to make it even smaller, or 320 kbps for music. If you need a lossless copy for editing instead, the Extract Audio from Video tool saves WAV or FLAC.

Why does my MOV screen recording have no sound?
A QuickTime or macOS screen recording only includes audio if a microphone was selected under Options before recording, and it does not capture the Mac's own system sound by default. If the MOV has no audio track, the converter tells you there is nothing to convert.
Can I convert just part of a MOV file?
Yes. Enter a Trim start and end time, such as 0:30 and 2:15, before you add the file, and only that section is saved as MP3. Leave the end empty to convert everything after your start time.
Does converting MOV to MP3 reduce audio quality?
iPhone MOV files usually contain AAC audio, and camera or ProRes MOV files often contain uncompressed PCM audio. MP3 compresses the sound again, which is very hard to hear at 192 kbps or higher; choose 320 kbps for music. For a lossless copy, use the Extract Audio from Video tool and save WAV or FLAC.
Do large 4K MOV files work?
Yes. There is no upload, so there is no upload size limit, and the video picture is never processed, only the audio track. The video codec does not matter, whether it is H.264, HEVC (H.265) or ProRes. On a computer, files of a gigabyte or more converted fine in our tests.
My MOV has more than one audio track. Which one is converted?
The first audio track in the file is converted. That is the main track in almost every MOV file, including iPhone videos and most camera recordings.
Can I convert several MOV files at once?
